Cookie consent: legal essentials

Under GDPR (EU/UK), CCPA (California), and equivalents, you must obtain consent before loading non-essential tracking scripts. The standard pattern is a banner with three options: Accept, Reject, and Customize. Pre-ticked boxes are not valid consent in the EU.

Setup in Flexibar

1. Create a bar and set type to Cookie consent.
2. Configure scripts to defer (analytics, ads pixels) until acceptance.
3. Geo-target the bar to EU, UK, EEA, and Switzerland (and California if you want CCPA coverage).
4. Set position to bottom — top consent banners feel more aggressive.

Email capture bars: list growth without popups

Popup fatigue is real — 70% of users instinctively close popups within 1.5 seconds. An inline email capture bar trades raw signup volume for higher-quality opt-ins. Conversion rates typically range from 1.5–3.5% of visitors, lower than popups (3–6%) but with 2–3x better email engagement afterwards.

Where the email goes

Flexibar pushes captured emails directly into Shopify Customers and tags them with the source (e.g. flexibar-bar-welcome10). From there your Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or Shopify Email flow takes over.
