Running Multiple Announcement Bars Simultaneously

Combine free shipping, promo, and trust bars on the same store using Flexibar's multi-bar rotation and targeting rules.

Most Shopify stores have more than one thing worth announcing: free shipping above a threshold, an active promo code, a trust signal, and a seasonal launch. Cramming all of that into a single bar destroys readability. Running multiple bars solves it — if you set up rotation and targeting correctly.

Three patterns that work

1. Stacked bars

Two bars stacked vertically: one promo bar at the top, one trust bar below. Best when you have a high-value offer that needs to dominate (e.g. BFCM 30% off) and a persistent secondary message (free returns).

2. Rotating slider

Three to five messages rotating in the same slot every 5–7 seconds. Best when you have multiple medium-value messages and don't want to over-claim vertical space. Avoid more than 5 messages — visitors lose track of the cycle.

3. Targeted swap

Different bars for different audiences in the same slot. Mobile visitors see "Free shipping over $50". Desktop visitors see "30-day returns and free exchanges". Returning visitors see a personalized "Welcome back — code WELCOME10".

Setup in Flexibar

  1. Create each bar separately with its own copy, color, and targeting.
  2. For stacked bars, set position to top and assign sort order.
  3. For rotation, group bars into a single slot and set the interval.

How many bars is too many?

Hard cap at 2 stacked bars on desktop and 1 on mobile. Each bar consumes ~40px of viewport — on a 667px iPhone SE viewport, two bars eat 12% of the screen before any content loads. That kills above-the-fold conversions.

Mobile rule: never stack bars on mobile. Use rotation in a single slot instead.

Common mistakes

  • Running three rotating messages with conflicting CTAs ("Shop sale" / "Subscribe" / "Read blog") — pick one primary action per audience
  • Forgetting to disable old promo bars after a sale ends
  • Letting two bars share the same color — visitors should be able to tell at a glance that the message changed
